Community
Fund +
Mutual Aid

Direct, flexible support for people in our community — without red tape, performative charity, or corporate nonsense.

This is mutual aid.

Taking care
of our own.

The Community Fund began as the Community Feast Fund — originally created to help provide food and meals during the holidays.

What became clear very quickly: the need doesn’t end in November. We saw people struggling year-round — with utilities getting shut off, rent gaps, car repairs, medical costs, childcare, and basic stability. Food was part of the picture, but it wasn’t the whole story.

So we listened. And we expanded. The Lavender & Rage Community Fund is our way of showing up consistently — not just seasonally.

What mutual aid actually means

Mutual aid isn’t charity. It’s people supporting people — directly, respectfully, and without shame.

There’s no savior complex here. No moral tests. No requirement to perform pain to deserve help. Just the belief that people deserve care, dignity, and support when systems fail them. This fund exists within the community — not above it.

Support may be used for

Emergency needs — utilities, rent gaps, transportation
Stability support — groceries, gas, prescriptions
Creative & vendor support — booth fees, supplies after hardship
Other immediate community needs as they arise

Transparency & Boundaries

Honest about
what this is
and isn’t.

We share periodic updates about how the Community Fund is used — without exploiting anyone’s story or sharing identifying details without consent.

Requests for support may be paused at times to protect capacity and sustainability. That boundary matters too.

Reproductive Justice

Palmetto State
Abortion Fund

South Carolina’s abortion ban cuts off care at six weeks — before most people know they’re pregnant. PSAF provides financial, logistical, and practical support so that no one has to navigate that alone. They fund travel, lodging, childcare, and the procedure itself. Local, independent, and essential.

Immigrant Defense

Midlands SC
Defensa

Midlands Defensa does ground-level immigrant defense work in the Columbia area — know-your-rights education, rapid response to ICE activity, community organizing, and direct support for families under threat. At a time when federal policy is actively targeting immigrant communities, this work is urgent and irreplaceable.

Civil Liberties

ACLU of
South Carolina

The ACLU-SC fights for civil liberties in the courts, the legislature, and the streets. From LGBTQ+ rights and reproductive freedom to immigrants’ rights and voting access, they take on the cases and policies that threaten everyone’s rights — and they’ve been doing it in South Carolina for decades.

Our values don’t stop at words, aesthetics, or products.

They show up in how we treat people and how we respond when someone needs help. This is what community looks like in practice.
