[Tidbits] Small Biz Red Flags Nobody Warns You About
Share
Starting a small business sounds fun until you realize half the internet is out here selling false hope and Canva templates for $99.
Here are a few red flags nobody really talks about until you’re already knee-deep in printer ink and burnout:
“We’re like family here.”
Translation: unpaid labor, emotional manipulation, and trauma bonding over spreadsheets.
Anyone selling a course instead of proof of success.
If their only business is teaching business, that’s not mentoring, that’s marketing.
Vendors who brag about selling out by noon.
Either they underpacked or they’re lying. Calm down, Brenda.
“Exposure” offers.
You can’t pay rent in exposure. If they say “we don’t have a budget,” that’s your cue to walk away.
No boundaries between business and identity.
Your brand isn’t your self-worth. Burnout hits harder when you forget that.
Running a small business is chaos, but it’s your chaos. Just make sure you’re not building it on red flags disguised as advice.
